Maria is one of our awesome students from Class 3, 2018!
What would you say is your favorite thing you’ve done so far ?
“Friday I helped someone, a lady that was sitting down. She was like “Come here.” I was at the hosting stand at that time so I was right there. She said “What are the qualifications for applying here as a student?” Then I told her all my genuine feelings about it and what I did know about it… Basically, at least two people got applications. I felt pretty good about that because its like I’m helping this place out.”
What would you say has been the most challenging thing you’ve done since you’ve been here?
“Probably dealing with making mistakes. Because I get stressed out when I make a mistake, depending on how serious that mistake was. Cause in my mind things go a certain way and things go smoothly, and then something goes wrong and its like: “Oh no, what do I do?” I’m basically like a robot.”
How would you describe this place to someone else?
“A good opportunity, especially since its free and they pay you to be here. I’m not even here for those things. Ok, honestly the free part is what drew me in. But it drew me in because its hard to find classes that don’t dip into your wallet, especially when you don’t have much of a wallet to begin with. ”
Do you have any advice for future students when they come through this program?
“Come in with an open mind. No one here is trying to go against you, no one is trying to- I think the young kids say throw shade? That’s what the young kids are saying? No one is legitimately trying to throw serious shade at you…They mean the best for you.”
